Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültemizde Ergoterapi Bölümü 2013 yılında kurulmuş bir departmandır. KKTC’de ergoterapi eğitimi veren ilk ve uzun yıllar boyunca tek üniversite Girne Amerikan Üniversitesi’dir.
Ergoterapistler fiziksel ve/veya mental kısıtlılıkları olan bireylerle çalışan sağlık çalışanlarıdır. Ergoterapinin hedefi bu bireylere çeşitli fiziksel, sosyal, ve psikolojik destek ve aktivitelerle günlük yaşam aktivitelerini kendi başlarına sürdürmebilme becerileri kazandırmaktır. Bu hedef doğrultusunda, ergoterapistler hem bireyi hem de bireyin sosyal çevresini eğitip, fiziki şartları da bireyin ihtiyaçlarına daha uygun hale getirecek düzenlemeler yapar. Ergoterapinin felsefesi bireylerin fiziksel ve mental durumu ne olursa olsun daha bağımsız, ve daha mutlu bireyler olmalarını sağlamakdır.
Adamızda öncülüğünü yaptığımız Ergoterapi Bölümünün misyonu, donanımlı, etik değerlere bağlı, alandaki gelişmeleri takip edebilecek bilgi ve beceriye sahip ergoterapistler yetiştirmektir.Öğrencilerimizin teorik bilgilerin yanı sıra pratik beceriler kazanmaları da önceliklerimiz arasındadır. Bu doğrultuda stajlar ve sosyal aktiviteler de sıklıkla gerçekleşmektedir.
Programın amacı:
Ergoterapi lisans programının amacı, kişiye bütüncül yaklaşabilen, kişi merkezli ergoterapik değerlendirme ve tedavi müdahalelerini uygulayabilen, kişilerin anlamlı ve amaçlı aktiviteler yolu ile bağımsızlığını ve yaşam kalitesini artıran ve toplumsal katılımlarını sağlayan, problem çözme becerisine sahip, yaratıcı düşünebilen ergoterapistler yetiştirmektir.
Programdan mezun olanların ünvanı :
Ergoterapi Bölümünde 4 yıllık lisans programını tamamlayanlar "Ergoterapist" ünvanını almaktadırlar.

Ergoterapi bölümünden mezun olan kişilerin istihdam alanları; kamuya ve özel sektöre ait Sağlık Kuruluşları, her türlü koruyucu, tedavi edici ve rehabilite edici hizmet sunan kuruluşlar, danışmanlık ve eğitim hizmeti veren merkezler, yaşlılar ve çocuklar için kurulmuş olan bakım ve eğitim merkezleri, işyeri sağlık birimleri, engelliler için kurulmuş olan eğitim ve bakım merkezleri, sosyal aktivite merkezleri, evde bakım hizmeti veren kuruluşlardır.
