An event was held with the Turkish Stars Team which came to the island for the November 15 ceremonies to celebrate the 31st year of the establishment of the TRNC within the scope of Girne American University (GAU) 2014/2015 Academic Year.

The event held at GAU Cyprus Campus International Congress Centre Spectrum Hall, received great interest by the Head of the GAU Health, Sports and Culture Department - Türkay Akpınar, GAU Vice Rector - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zafer Ağdelen, academicians, students and the public.

The opening speech of the event organized by the GAU Aviation Club, was conducted by the GAU Vice-Rector - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zafer Ağdelen.  Ağdelen thanked GAU Aviation Club for giving them the opportunity to get to know the Turkish Stars team better and expressed that they provide education with the “Future is in the heavens” slogan of Atatürk with a newly opened pilotage department and already opened Civil Aviation High School.

After the opening speech, Aviation Pilot Lieutenant Zeki KOLTUKOĞLU stated in his speech that he is really happy to come together with GAU students and thanked the University for giving them the opportunity to meet with students. Koltukoğlu stated that they will always be happy to come together with students in case of a request and conveyed their satisfaction because of the intense interest.

Media and Public Relations Officer Lt. Col. Bülent Savaş, who gave a speech before the event which was held in the form of Questions and Answers and was shown great interest by the students, stated that: "Flying is travelling in the atmosphere without contact with the surface made by any living creature or aircraft. We cannot express such an extraordinary thing within hundreds of writings. Following the presentation, Savaş ended his speech by giving information about the staff of the Turkish Stars, its establishment purpose, its year and how to participate in the Turkish Stars team.

At the end of the event, Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zafer Ağdelen was  presented with a remembrance picture by Turkish Stars team and the Turkish Stars team were presented with a plaque of appreciation by the Vice-Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zafer Ağdelen on behalf of GAU.
