American College Commemorated Atatürk with Ceremonies

The American College an educational branch of Girne American University School Group, GAU), students commemorated the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with a ceremony.

 

The ceremony which took place in the American College, located in Kyrenia. began by class captains and class representatives placing flowers on Atatürk’s bust. After a moment of silence and the national anthem for Atatürk and his comrades, the American Nursing school choir sang, “Cumhuriyet Cumhuriyet” (The Republic) and “Atam Sen Rahat Uyu” (May you Rest in Peace). As American College Nursery students read their poems ‘Kahramanımızsın Atatürk ve Uyanda Kalk Atam (You’re our Hero Atatürk and Wake and Stand), Daren Hüroğlu and Günseli Erdem gave a speech on the meaning and importance of the day. “There are two Mustafa Kemal’s. One is me, just skin and bone, the temporary Mustafa Kemal. The second Mustafa Kemal can’t be said to be ‘me’, he isn’t me, and he is us. ‘He’, is a bright and fighting society that works for new ideas in every corner of the country, a new life and a big cause. I represent their dreams. You are that permanent Mustafa Kemal, the Mustafa Kemal that needs to live and be successful. Also, the poem choir which was represented by The American Nursery School students read Atatürk’s poem, and the International Middle School students Nehir Yeşilada and Mustafa Bağman read the poem ‘Atatürk Ne Demek’ (What does Atatürk mean).

 

With the oratorio performed by 2nd year primary school students, the audience faced emotional moments. A message about the day’s meaning and importance was published by a message from the American College, “In our hearts, we constantly miss and remember the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk’s norms, love and respect”.
