GAU Shapes The Future of Karpaz

SERHAT AKPINAR: “KARPAZ LIFE CAMPUS CONSTRUCTION PHASE CONTINOUS IN FULL FLOW.”


The construction of Karpaz Life Campus, which has initially commenced with the previous academic year by Girne American University, aimed for the development of Karpaz locals and the region.

 

GAU Founding Rector and the Chancellor of Board of Administrators Serhat Akpınar, on his visit to Dipkarpaz Mayor Suphi Coşkun, have reported on the latest developments in regards to the construction phase. GAU sociologist Derviş Refiker was also present during the visit.

 

“GAU Shapes the Future of Karpaz”

 

GAU Founding Rector and the Chancellor of Board of Administrators Serhat Akpınar has stated that Karpaz’s future will be shaped by GAU as the campus to be established will resemble more social life oriented structure contrary to the classical campus.

 

The campus will include information center, Archeology and Nature Museum, eco-village, health center, sports center, accommodation departments, AR-GE center for agriculture and husbandry development, beekeeping and social activity facilities like theater and cinema which as well protects the natural structure. Akpınar also stated that these facilities will serve the locals for 24 hours a day.


 “Karpaz Campus to Commence Education initially with 500 Students for the next Academic Year”

 

Akpınar emphasized that Karpaz region will for the first time have the privilege to have a museum, theater, cinema and a campus. Akpınar further stated that the campus is to commence education initially with 500 students and besides of English Foundation School and Department of Tourism other nature and environment oriented research institutions will also be established.

 

Akpınar continued to his words and explained that the construction will preserve the Karpaz spirit by protecting its untouched environment and also its flora and fauna. Akpınar stressed that GAU students who study in all other campuses will have the opportunity to study in Karpaz Life Campus.

 

Akpınar underlined that the structured established by GAU’s vision and development strategies is unique amongst world of architecture.


Eco-village and Regional Institutions to be Established

 

Akpınar stated that careful examinations by the experts in regards to the region’s natural variations is undertaken to help enrich the region rather than damaging as the Eco-village and environmental institutions are to be built. Akpınar finally stated that the campus will be the center of GAU’s scientific studies that aims to develop nature, culture and economic of the Karpaz peninsula through the sustainable nature and culture principal.
