Talk about cancer by Dr Yavuz Dizdar at GAU
The leading oncologist of Turkey - Dr. Yavuz Dizdar gave a talk at GAU under the 2013/2014 Academic Year social events organization.
The session which was held in GAU Karmi Campus Spectrum International Congress Center was attended by Chair of GAU Health, Culture and Sports Office - Türkay Akpınar, Vice-Rector - Prof. Dr.Sadık Ülker, GAU Health Investments Project Coordinator - Günhan Nalbantoğlu and many students. Dr. Yavuz Dizdar who is well known for his diversities in the world of medicine was welcomed warmly by the students. Dizdar spoke about factors which contribute for cancer risk, the food industry and side effects of new production and also the renovations in food industry.
Dr.. Yavuz Dizdar, mentioned some of the risk factors in cancer such as smoking, alcohol, and being overweight.
Dizdar, “I have also discussed that Barbeque makes cancer with my colleagues on TV”
Dizdar remarking that he has also discussed that Barbeque makes cancer with his colleagues on TV further stated that “When you claim that barbeque causes cancer you must also prove and test this. If this was so, all the kebab makers would have been diagnosed with cancer. Therefore this is required to be analysed further by doctors and professors. People tend to see the tip of the iceberg, but obesity like illnesses must be further explained.”
Dizdar, “My expectation from the Universities are to create Fields of Health and Organic Agriculture”
Dizdar emphasized that he expects universities to organize fields in which health and organic agriculture can be utilised and distribute the products to the people. Dizdar further underlined that the industry has no mercy and intends to produce on lowest costs thus focusing on mass consumption. Dizdar stressed that no one really cares whether or not people are getting ill as they only care on developing and leading the industry.
Finally at the end of the session Dr. Yavuz Dizdar was presented with a plaque of appreciaiton by GAU Vice-Rector - Prof. Dr. Sadık Ülker.
