Girne American College, which provides education under the Group of Schools of Girne American University, celebrated the 23rd of April - National Sovereignty and Children’s Day enthusiastically together with students from 18 other countries.

The students of the American College participated in educational games and workshops under the scope of 23rd of April events in the traditional annually organized Fun Fair events.

The ceremony which was held in GAU Cyprus-Girne Campus GAULympic was attended by Sevim Erdal - the wife of the Chair of GAU Board of Trustees Memduh Erdal, Vice Chancellor of GAU Board of Administrators and the Chair of Group of Schools - Cemile Esenyel, Rector - Prof. Dr. Yıldırım Öner and also State Authorities and other Commanders of Forces and families.
The ceremony commenced with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, March in review and the reading of the American College anthem. The students gave speeches which emphasized the significance of the day in Turkish, English and French languages and also performed poem concerts and dance shows, finally ending the 23rd of April ceremonies.

Students, remembering that the GAU Senate has entitled the 2013/2014 academic year as the “Year of Environment and Nature”, sang songs about the environment at the GAULympic together with all of the participants.
