GAU sign Protocols with 2 Nigerian Universities
GAU, on the eve of its 30th year in higher education, adds a further 2 state universities from Nigeria to its vision of international agreement.
The cooperation protocol was signed with the Enugu State University of Science & Technology which is one of the elite state universities of Nigeria and also Crawford University after the meeting which was held yesterday afternoon (1st April) at GAU Girne Campus. With these agreements Girne American University has increased the number of universities with which it shares information and academic cooperation to 150.
The agreement and signing ceremony, which was held at the GAU Girne Rector Meeting Hall, was attended by CEO and Vice-Chancellor of the Board – Assist. Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi as the representative of GAU and Prof. Ogbonna Cyprain Onyeji as the representative from the Enugu State University and Prof. Samson Adenola Ayanlaja as the representative from Crawford University.
CEO and Vice-Chancellor of the Board – Assist. Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi stated in his speech at the ceremony that with this protocol, the students who are successful in their own country will have the opportunity of studying in GAU. Vehbi stated that - "The students, who are successful in their own country and meet the average set by GAU, will have the opportunity of studying in our university with this protocol and their entry into our country will be controlled".
Vehbi stated that GAU, which is on the eve of its 30th Academic Year, increased the number of universities with which it shares information and academic cooperation to 150, and also expressed that they will continue the international cooperation protocols by taking into consideration the sensitivities of the country which is rapidly becoming an education island.
What are the benefits of the Protocol?
According to the protocol, the students who want to attend Girne American University will have their first year in the Enugu State University of Science & Technology or Crawford University and those who can maintain a good average will then be able to attend GAU for the next 3 years.
