GAU, Girne Özgür Ada and İskele Sahil Lions Clubs have co-operated with a Blood Donation Campaign for the Thalassemia Centre which had an active attendance.

The Campaign was held under the slogan “A Drop of Blood, A Life” with the co-operation of GAU, Girne Özgür Ada and İskele Sahil Lions Clubs and was attended by GAU CEO and Vice-Chancellor of Board of Administrators - Assist. Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi, GAU Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Sadık Ülker and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zafer Ağdelen, the Chair of Girne Özgürada Lions Club - Bengül Bardak and İskele Sahil Lions Club Representative - Övgü Tayfun and the Club members. The donated blood has been delivered to Lefkoşa Thalassemia Centre.

GAU CEO and Vice-Chancellor of Board of Administrators - Assist. Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi has emphasized that “We have gathered here to undertake a responsibility as fellow-citizens. I thank both Girne Özgürada and İskele Sahil Lions on behalf of the GAU family. I congratulate them for contributing to such a social responsibility project as a non-governmental organization. It is an honour to witness that organizations such as this contribute for the awareness which provides an opportunity for blood donation, as blood demand is significant in today’s world. We, as the GAU family, have today donated blood as a contribution. Donating must not be limited to certain times, and I would like to add that we, as the GAU family, are always ready to donate blood with our 1,000 employees and 11,000 students.”

The Chair of Girne Özgürada Lions Club - Bengül Bardak, reported that “ We as Girne Özgürada Lions Club and İskele Sahil Lions Club and with the co-operation of GAU have decided to commence a campaign under the slogan of “A Drop of Blood, A Life”. We thank GAU and other contributors for their support in this campaign”.

İskele Sahil Lions Club Secretary - Övgü Tayfun has also underlined that “We, as Özgürada Lions Club and İskele Sahil Lions Club, have gathered here at GAU to hold a blood donation campaign. This is our 3rd blood donation campaign. We have previously held similar campaigns in İskele and Yeni Erenköy. I hope that this campaign will encourage many others. I finally would like to thank GAU and the Lefkoşa Blood Centre for their contribution.”
