Girne American University is the only university to reach 57 % in the position quota amongst the universities of TRNC following the announcement made by Turkey Higher Education Board in regards to the 2013-2014 University Position Examination for the students commencing their university education.

GAU is the most preferable amongst the universities of TRNC by far the best and ranked first amongst the private universities with 1681 students in total.

Vehbi: “Nevertheless Faculties of Medicine and Theology with higher quota and preference have not yet commenced education their general quotas have reached up to 54 % capacity.”25 % of students preferred to study in TRNC have chosen GAU as their university.GAU CEO and Vice-Chancellor of Board of Administrators Assist. Prof. Dr. AsımVehbi has stated that the development of the internationalization reflex of the TRNC universities will dominate the future of higher education system and structures. It has been emphasized that this ratio is exception to the sum number of students from TRNC high schools, additional positioning, vertical transfer and foreign students. The aim of reaching 10 thousand students in total has been achieved.Nevertheless Faculties of Medicine and Theology of GAU with higher quota and preference have not yet commenced education, their general quotas have reached upto 54 % capacity and this is a result due to higher level education system and abroad campuses of GAU.

Vehbi also stated that the aim to reach the best 2 universities in TRNC has been merely achieved. Finally stating that number of students preferring TRNC is greater in number as a result of rise in higher education quality and internationalization.
