Girne American University  has conducted an academic protocol with the leading university of Uganda the Makerere University.

GAU has conducted an academic protocol with the leading university of Uganda the Makerere Universityupon the signatures of CEO and Vice-Chancellor of Board of Administrators Assist. Prof. Dr.  Asım Vehbi and General Secretary Dr. Sualp Davut on behalf of GAU and Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. John Ddumba Ssentamu and Legal Advisor Mr. Goddy Muhanguzi Muhumuzaon behalf of Makerere University.

The agreement lays for 5 years regarding fields of exchanging students and academicians, research and publishing activities, occupational development and continuous education.

GAU CEO and Vice-Chancellor of Board of Administrators Assist. Prof. Dr.  Asım Vehbi has emphasized that the protocol not only holds the academic sharing but also it is an important step forward to lift the embargos.

Makerere University situated in the capital of Uganda Kampala and provides education since 1922 is one of the best universities of the country and also has an international identity. Mutual benefits will be created upon student and academician exchange programs. The protocol foresees exchange programs of students and academicians with the leading university Makerere which provides education in undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate programs. Apart thereof common curriculum and common scientific projects are also aimed to be conducted upon the protocol for GAU academic programs to reinforce Uganda higher education.

Vehbi also underlined that GAU students will have the possibility to visit Uganda for a periodic education under the protocol finally stating that the protocol will contribute for the higher education of TRNC.
