For the first time in the universities of North Cyprus GAU got the accreditation for the doctoral programme on New Turkish Language department.

Eduniversal which is the first tool offering a truly universal perspective on higher education had listed The American University among the 1000 universities in the world which are “The Best Business Schools”. Now GAU, in its 25th Silver Jubilee year, got accreditation from YÖK (Higher Education Board of Turkish Republic) for the doctoral programme on the New Turkish Language department.

According to information made by GAU, the doctoral programme which got accreditation from YÖK, is applied by just a few Turkish universities and The American University is the first one among the universities of North Cyprus that is going to apply the doctoral programme of New Turkish Language. For Turkish universities and academic environments taking accreditation for the doctoral programme on New Turkish Language shows the competence of faculty and high education of the university which is a great honour for The American University.

Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Tanju Gürkan mentioned that the doctoral programme which is opened for raising academicians on that field to give service at the universities of North Cyprus and that’s why the accreditation also made the other universities of North Cyprus happy. He reminded that 30 Post graduate and 7 doctoral programmes continue their education in The American University and they will continue to open doctoral programmes on the other fields.

Head of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature Assoc Prof. Dr. Saadettin Yıldız mentioned in his statement that academically aim of the all departments is to open a doctoral programme and Faculty of Education after post graduate programmes with thesis and non-thesis with hard-working they accomplished to open the doctoral programme as well.

Yıldız reminded that some of the post graduate programmes with thesis will give the first graduates this year and with studies of science proficiency department of Turkish Language and Literature put GAU’s signature under important successes. He also mentioned that within the faculty, graduate, post graduate and doctoral programmes are carried out by 4 Professors, 4 Associate Professors, 2 Assistant Professors and competent academicians.
