Beside of Girne residents and foreign settlers in Girne, students, academic staff and administrative personnel have also greatly participated in the “One Billion Rising” event -which conveyed a slogan of “DANCE FOR OUR COMMON FUTURE” - held in the Freedom and Equality Square of GAU-Girne Campus.

 “One Billion Rising” event which was formed to pull attention to the violence, assault, sexual racism against woman was participated by over 500 people in the activity held in Girne (GAU) Freedom and Equality Square for protesting the violence and discrimination against woman.

The event which the choreography was prepared by GAU Performing Arts Higher school Dance department was commenced with the opening speech of the Dean of Communication Faculty Assoc. Dr. Neriman Saygılı and moreover the event was supported by the civil society organizations.

Finalizing the event Dominant music band of GAU has supported the globally performed event with their concert.

GAU also emphasized that the choreographyof the event for Turkey leg which was held in City Square of Beşiktaş was prepared by the GAU İstanbul Dance Academy and free of charge dancing training was provided for the participants. It has also been stated that GAU will continue to stand against for any global problems like discrimination, violence and sexual harassment with its global international campus and science staff.
