In the anniversary of Cyprus Peace Operation, the duty of dawn is going to be done traditionally every year. The flags which were sent by Turkey were taken to the Cyprus by the education boat “Atlantis” of GAU.

GAU attended to the20 July Yacht Rally with the education boat “Atlantis”. The GAU Committee consits of academicians, students and GAU TV. GAU not only had a chance to practice but also to make official contacts.

After the 20 July Yacht Rally on the route of TRNC-Aydıncık-Alanya, the GAU academicians and students brought the flag to the Yavuz Landing Beach for the duty of Dawn.

In the statements made by GAU, emphasized the importance of development in education at the 36th anniversary year of 1974 Peace Operation and pointed out that within the 2009-2010 academic year, the GAU’s Vice President Olgun Üstün, The Rector of GAU Prof. Dr. Yıldırım Öner, the Rector of Piri Reis University Prof Dr. Osman Kamil Sağ and the Vice Rector Prof Dr. Mahmut Calal Barla signed an academic cooperation. This agreement has great importance for Turkish Republic and Northern Cyprus maritime sector. Thanks to the rules of agreement ““Academician Transfer” “Support and Programme Development Projects” and “International Maritime Organization IMO STCW”, there will be support to get the driving license.

Thanks to the 20 July Yacht Rally which is organized ever year, GAU had a 4 days education opportunity and it is a big honour to disembark from the boat at the same hour of the 1974 Happy Peace Operation.
