Girne American Univercity (GAU) Founding Rector Serhat Akpınar, on top of the last weeks decision for relief work as a University after the flood, invited everyone to lend a hand and mend wounds together.
GAU who extended a helping hand to residents of Dikmen region which had been heavily damaged in the heavy rains affecting the whole country with the Founding Rector Serhat Akpınar call invited GAU`s partners and everyone to unite. The message which have been shared on social media reads:
“There`s such a day, uniting, supporting eachother, knowing that we could be the ones needing help, being the relief the pain, hunger, thirst, search for a warm corner, and being that helping hand to a shivering hand in their moment of need.I thank god for we were self-sufficient when we the disaster struck. Today, that sufficiency is with people who need help. I call to our partners. Give us a hand as well, help us. Let us help the victims together.”
In a statement made by GAU Rectorate regarding the subject, in accordance with the decision they have taken, they would help people with flood damaged residences in Dikmen region, with the full support of Disaster Management field and AKUT(Search & Rescue) Club would offer indefinite support be it with provisions or cleaning flooded houses, or waterpump spots. In the declaration which mentioned aside from this needs of those who need matresses, blankets and the like, would be met, statement also emphasised that those who need help needs
