American College Organized Activities In Math And Science Week
The American Elementary School which is connected to Girne American University (GAU) Group of Schools organized scientific works, various activities and games in the field of math and science within the scope of Math and Science Week.
While American College making projects with using symbols and numbers within the scope of Pi day, importance of scientific works were transferred to students. Math song which was written and composed by Music teacher was listened by school chorus’ mini concert.
Exciting moments occurred while the mathematic competition that 4 different group was being competed. Equality, Universal, and Reality teams competed. Competition was made of 20 questions and competition was very challenging. After extra questions were answered true, the team who could write the Pi numbers’ value the longest came in first. While the prevailing team was being applauding by their teammates, they gave their grand prize books and certificate of achievement.
The student who prepared his own computer game in the science week came first in the competitions that were held in the field of science. Fifth grade student introduced his game to his friends. Game was met admiringly by his friends. Successful student thanked to his teachers that gave support to him in computer works.
In the week, ingratiate of mathematics was aimed and improvements in scientific field was emphasized. The American Elementary School Headmaster Mine Ağdaç made a statement and she said that; “Mathematic is reliable means that is not connected to time or location while obtaining new information, disclosure and inspection of obtained information, and passing on to the next generations. Therefore, mathematic learning has a special importance and priority in all world countries so we as school are conscious of this and in order to ingratiate and adopt the mathematic, we celebrate 14th March World Pi Day with activities just like every year. We are taking this week as an opportunity and we continue to celebrate it all year long in order to students recognize, understand, and love the mathematic.
