GAU SHOWS A GLOBAL APPROACH TO HEALTH SECTOR

Girne American University (GAU) Rector and relevant academicians who made researches in the building area of GAU Health Complex obtained information about the construction process from Civil Engineers Ahmet Arkın and Serhan Peler and shared several important information about the hospital.

In his statement regarding the GAU Health Complex, GAU Rector Prof. Dr. Kutsal Ozturk indicated that the project is a significant investment which will provide great benefits to Kyrenia and TRNC and stated the followings;

Ozturk: “GAU provides great developments not for itself but for the whole TRNC”

 “Whenever I come to the construction area, I get excited as this project is a great investment that will provide service for the whole TRNC and the tourists. In the coming years, the importance we give to the health will remain the same. When the project finishes, it will turn into a structure that will fulfill great needs. GAU Health Complex will give service as a smart building and will rank foremost among its competitors.

In the previous days, we have made some contacts in Afyon regarding our hospital project. These investments have great importance for our people and university. GAU provides these great developments not for itself but for the whole TRNC.”

In his statement, GAU Faculty of Health Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Ahmet Basustaoglu recorded as follows;

Basustaoglu: “We will perform our opening in 2017 without any flaw”

 “It is very satisfying that such an important and successful building is developing in this short span of time. At this point, we have several important duties. As soon as the hospital opens, we need to make some preparations and we have already started them with the consent of our rector. Firstly, with our faculty and departments, we will become a university that raises its own personnel; we will raise our laboratory technicians, sterilization technicians, nurses and operating room technicians for the Health Vocational Higher Education School. We continue our background works for this and we have already started our adaptation works for the hospital quality standards of the World Health Organization. For instance, we started to make preparations for the practice directions on several points such as committee for prevention of the hospital-acquired infections, medical waste committee and laboratory practice standardization. In 2017, after the opening of our hospital, we will start to provide service without any flaw.”

Basustaoglu: “%85 of tourists’ ages that come to TRNC are above 55”

 “%85 of tourists’ ages that come to TRNC are 55 or above. This is one of the goals of us and the hospital has great significance in this sense. We also perform works for tourism. We will prepare our background for the health tourism with our nurses, dietitians and physical therapists. We have started making the necessary contacts and when our hospital starts to provide service, we will be ready without any hitch with our medical staff.”

In his statement, GAU Nursing School Principal Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zeki Avcı stressed that as soon as the construction of GAU Health Complex finishes, dream of every sanitarian will come true in Kyrenia and continued as follows;

 “GAU Health Complex is a structure that every sanitarian dreams about and with such a structure; GAU awards its health investments that have been made until today. In my opinion, these kinds of works will improve the quality of our university and will fill the deficiency of the health service areas in Kyrenia. It is obvious that there will be a world class health service. Cyprus society has always lived unsociably and I think this can be prevented. Technology has great importance; our society will be provided better services with the latest technology. Only thing that tourists would compare our country with theirs is the health sector and at this point, our complex will create a difference.”

GAU Health Vocational Higher Education School Principal Halin Bareke expressed that with GAU; they show a holistic philosophical approach to the health and stated the followings;

Both we and our students are really happy. GAU is already known with its quality and we are very excited. GAU students will benefit from the latest technology which they can analyze new cases. We think that our society deserves this service and the structure and we also experience the happiness of having such a vision with this structure. Our students will perform practical works with the latest technology. Philosophy that the world approaches shows a holistic perspective to the health; not just healing the diseases, but also preventing them. I am really happy as we will have the same holistic perspective in Kyrenia with the whole world. Since we always have a global vision, it is our prior goal to improve the quality of health of our lives.”   

In the statement of GAU Academician, Family Physician and Emergency Medicine Specialist Dr. Ali Fuat Atalay, it was referred that with GAU Health Complex, they would provide a high quality and understandable health service;

 “It is really important that Kyrenia will have such a successful structure. There was a great deficiency in Kyrenia, the capital of tourism. GAU will fill this deficiency and provide the best service for our society and students. We should not expect some issues only from our government. At this point, we thank our Founding Rector and Chancellor of Board of Administrators Serhat Akpınar. Kyrenia citizens are very grateful as it is very important that such a structure is being built in Kyrenia. Tourism investment, continuing process and providing a quality service for our tourist and society has great significance. We are very excited for our students. They will be raised with quality and sufficient information and knowledge. We will provide a high quality and understandable health service.”

GAU Academician Biochemist Assist. Prof. Dr. Besim Özel indicated that GAU shows a global approach to the health sector and continued;

 “GAU Health Complex has started to excite us without even opening because we will have a high quality health sector. More importantly, we will globally make contributions to the health sector. With the scientific researches that will be performed, GAU Health Complex will contribute to the whole humanity for finding a cure for diseases. You cannot completely learn your job without practicing it. With our hospital, our students will improve themselves and their fund of knowledge about their profession.”
