“International Symposium on Applied Economics and Finance” which was organized jointly by Girne American University (GAU) School of Business Administration and International Network for Economic Research (INFER) have finished successfully. In the International Workshop on Applied Economics and Finance, which started with the participation of GAU and many local and foreign expert scientists, recent developments and studies on economics and finance have been presented during 2 days. GAU School of Business Administration Lecturer Assist. Prof. Dr. Dervis Kirikkaleli, who made an evaluation about the International Workshop on Applied Economics and Finance, stated the followings; “It is known that higher education sector in Cyprus is developing day by day and the accreditations taken by the universities, current departments, international academic publishing and national and international conferences and symposiums are improving our education and making contributions to increase the quality. We, as Girne American University, are conscious of this and organizing studies and programs to improve our quality of education. During 2 days, INFER International Symposium on Applied Economics and Finance that we organized, attracted great attention of not only GAU academicians and students, but also other universities of TRNC. In the symposium, recent studies on economics and finance have been presented by expert scientists. The presentations gave our students the opportunity of learning the studies which are done all over the world from the first person and discussing the findings of the academic studies. It is obvious that these kinds of symposiums open up the horizon of students and increase the skill of scientific thought, questioning and recognition. Additionally, presentations which were made by the academicians during the symposium can be beneficial to their thesis and courses. Throughout the years, many people who wanted to improve themselves academically, had the difficulty of going abroad in order to attend international conferences and seminars, however, with these kinds of conferences and seminars, they can now academically be more equipped. And these organizations make contributions to GAU and the whole TRNC to be known worldwide.”
