Girne American University (GAU) Health Vocational Higher Education School Director Halin Bareke and GAU Nursing Higher Education School Director Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Avcı made important statements on the questions of Cansu Örmeci in Ada TV and revealed the difference of the university hospitals.

Bareke, who stated that there is a huge increase in the number of students of the GAU Health Vocational Higher Education School, stated that "We give 4-years of education in our Faculty of Health Sciences, as well as our Nutrition and Dietetics, Health Management, Occupational therapy, Emergency Assistance and disaster Management sections we also have 2-year course, where we raise Health Technicians, we also have Master`s program."

Academic staff has been expanded

Bareke, who stressed that this year the academic staff has developed seriously, stated that "Academic staff is a very important point, the number of our students continues to increase with each passing year, and we have made great progress in nursing and midwifery department." Halin Bareke expressed that "First of all we are the only university, who gives high midwifery education in midwifery profession, at the end of this year we will graduate our first high midwifes, this is a source of pride for us."

"Midwifery profession is our indispensable

Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Avcı stated the followings in his speech: "Midwifery is our indispensable. When looked at the employment rates the midwives are needed both in the TRNC and Turkey, one the most important points is to love this profession, we are doing our best for our students. This year there was an increase in our number of students and we can see that they came to get the best education."

Applied Training

GAU Health Academy Director Halin Bareke stated the followings in his speech, where he stressed the importance of the practical training:" "Our students cannot graduate without doing practice; the students firstly perform a practice on the models. Nursing is a department which cannot accept any mistake, accessing to the theoretical knowledge become easier but the important thing is to combine this information with the applications." Bareke, who evaluated the increasing number of the students, stated that "This is GAU`s success. Our students are intertwined with their departments and our aim will be to meet the requests of our students in the best way."

GAU Hospital will primarily provide profit to the country

Bareke, who revealed his views on the future of the GAU Faculty of Health Sciences in his speech, stated the followings:" We decide within the mission and plans while opening of our departments. We are trying to be pioneers by opening departments, which are providing education in English, in Cyprus and Turkey such as occupational therapy. GAU`s hospital will provide profit to the country. State hospitals are primarily engaged in treating the diseases, they haven`t got any research facilities, but university hospitals can do it"

Practical Training

Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Avci and Halin Bareke, while expressing that at the beginning of the projects they have completed while moving move towards the 50th year of the Girne American University comes the steps taken regarding the health, stated that Girne will have a health center with the completion of the construction of the hospital and they may become a leading institution on behalf of the health tourism. The academics, who expressed that without sacrificing practical training they continued to work on behalf of their students while the hospital construction continues, stated that; at the same time, the students had gained a great facility with the laboratories made by the support of the Aid Delegation of the Turkish Embassy and that the project will continue to increase.
