Girne American University (GAU) School of Performing Arts, Dance Department Special Talent Examinations starts with the slogan of "They are seeking mutual friends for their worldwide success and championships".

 

The examinations will be repeated a total of 4 times, including June, July, August and September.

 

The applications for the examination, which will be held on 10-11 June, 8-9 July,12-13 August and 9-10 September, has started.

 

TRNC citizens will benefit from the scholarships they got from GAU Scholarship Exam in the "Dance Department Special Talent Examination", which Girne American University, who is the only pioneer university in arts in Cyprus, started.

 

As for Turkish citizen candidates, they need to have exceeded the threshold of 140.00 points in any type of YGS points.

 

Detailed Information’s about the Examination

 

Dance Department Special Talent Examination is carried out in two stages.

 

1st Day: The dance histories of the candidates are examined together with their physical appearances like flexibility, power, posture, height and weight. Various exercises are given by the lecturers to determine the coordination and motion perception. It is checked whether the candidates have musical ear, body coordination and sense of rhythm or not. An evaluation will be conducted by faculty members at the end of the day. Candidates who successfully complete the first stage will continue the stages on the second day.

 

The results of the first day will be hung on the Dance Department panel in 1 hour.

 

2nd Day: The perceptions and the creativity of the candidates are tested with the routines given by the teachers. Improvisation exercises are given in order to determine the creativity, feeling and expression abilities. In addition, a unique solo performance, which is at least 1:30 minutes, is asked from the candidates. The candidates are subjected to a personal interview, after the solo performances. The students must be present on examination place at least 1 hour before the examination. The entering order of the exam for each phase would be determined depending on the candidate’s candidate number and the candidates would be informed before the examination. The candidates, who successfully passed the two phases, will have a right to register and receive their 4 year academic education at the Girne American University Cyprus Campus.

 

% 25, % 50, % 75 and % 100 scholarship opportunity are given to the students.

 

The documents required in the application

• 2015 ÖSYM Result Document and a copy of it (The candidate should have entered to Transition to Higher Education Examination (YGS) the year he/she will apply to the program and at least one of the points needs to be 140 and higher).
• Application form (can be taken from the faculty).
• Four photographs (2 passport-size, 2 body shot, the photographs should be taken within the last six months, from front, head and neck open, should easily present the candidate).
• The original of the identity card and its photocopy.
• Application fee:  50TL

 

Professional male and female dancer candidates, who will participate in the examination, are required to wear a t-shirt and tights.
