Girne American University (GAU) Performing Arts High School, Department of Dance Special Talent Examination to begin with “They are looking for a partner for their success and championships all around the world” slogan. The exams will be repeated in June, July, August and September. The applications for the exams on June 10-11, July 8-9, August 12-13 and September 9-10 have already started.

 

The candidates who are the citizens of Turkish Republic must score at least 140.00 points in YGS

 

The only pioneer university of the art education in Cyprus, Girne American University, Department of Dance Special Talent Examination will let the TRNC citizens to make use of the scholarships that have been granted in GAU Scholarship Examination.

 

Detailed information about the examination

 

Department of Dance Special Talent Examination would be realized in two Phases.

 

Day 1: Dance backgrounds of the candidates would be examined considering their physical appearances such as flexibility, power, stance, height and weight.

 

Various exercises would be given by the faculty members in order to determine the perception of coordination and movement. They would see whether they have a musical ear, body coordination and sense of rhythm or not. At the end of the day, an evaluation would be realized by the faculty members. Successful candidates of the first Phase would continue for the other phases on second day.

 

The day one’s results would be on the board of the Department of Dance in an hour.

 

 

Day 2: The creativity and perception of the candidates would be tested by the routines given by the faculty members.  Impromptu exercises would be given in order to determine the creativity, emotion and expression skills.

 

They also would ask for a unique solo performance at least for 1:30 minutes by the candidates. The candidates would be subjected to the personal interview after the solo performances.

 

Students are expected to be ready at the examination Venue at least an hour earlier before the exam time. The candidates entering order of the exam for each phase would be determined depending on their candidate numbers and the candidates would be informed before the examination.

 

Successful candidates of the two Phases would have a right to register and receive their 4 year academic education at the Girne American University Cyprus Campus.

 

25%, 50%, 75% and 100% scholarship opportunities are provided to the students.

 

Required documents for the application

 

2015 ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Exam) results transcript and a photocopy. (The candidate is expected to enter the transition to higher education examination (YGS) in his/her application year and expected to have 140 or more at least from one of the YGS points.)

 

Application form (Could be collected from the faculty on the registration day)

  

Four (2 headshots, 2 full length body shots) photos (photos should not be older than six months, head and neck visible in order to easily identify the applicant)

 

Original identity card and a photocopy.

Application fee: 50 tl

The professional male and female dancer candidates have to wear tights and body T-shirts.
