Girne American University (GAU), which celebrates its 30th anniversary, added a new one to the international accreditation it received, in 2014-2015 academic years.

GAU Founding Rector and Chancellor of the Board Serhat Akpinar attended to the award ceremony which was held in Serbia`s capital, Belgrade.  Akpinar announced the pride of the new accreditations they received at the 30th anniversary of GAU to the public by a statement he made via social media. Akpinar stated the followings in his statement;

 “It`s a great success. Tonight, in the 30th anniversary of our university, I feel so honored. I share our success with our all global GAU family. I congratulate our rector ship, related Deans of the Faculty, all administrative/academic staff of our Tourism Graduate School, Aviation Academy and the Institute and our Board. After an incredible effort, political struggle and a 20-year period that started with me, in the single inspection process of the TRNC and European Union, all departments of our Faculty of Business and Economics including Tourism and Aviation Academy won the right to receive Associate Degree, Master`s Degree, Executive Programs and PhD Programs Accreditations of the European Council for Business Education (ECBE). I was so proud of us while receiving our accreditation document among dozens of universities. 20 different academic disciplines in one term and in all departments; I could not hide my surprise in the face of such a situation which was a first in the European Union. My confusion was not to the success we have shown, it was because of the exciting looks of the other educational institutions who witnessed the moment with me. This night, many universities have witnessed the GAU`s journey of success in Belgrade, one of the Europe`s historic cities. The words spoken for us were perfect. I think that we represented our country in the best way. We have a lot to do until the next inspection process. I will share the accreditation documents with our family at our 30th Year Gala Night, which will be held on June 5th at night. I am also feeling proud for adding a very important value to the lives of our students and graduates. I congratulate GAU; Many more beautiful successes in our journey to success."
