1st Petroleum and Natural Gas Congress, sponsored by Girne American University, started at Dome Hotel in Girne.

In the congress Vice Chancellor of the Board of Administrators Olgun Üstün represented Girne American University.

At the congress, which will continue for two days (May 7-8, 2015), subjects titled Eastern Mediterranean and Energy Geopolitics, recommendations for TRNC Petroleum Law and sector restructuring, The concept of the exclusive economic zone under international law and the reflection of it in TRNC, Hydrocarbon reserves discovered in Eastern Mediterranean in the context of regional problems, how should rational petroleum exploration strategies in TRNC be?, Turkey`s petroleum exploration activities in TRNC and petroleum systems of the region, The main geological features of Northern Cyprus, The researches conducted in the Eastern Mediterranean by the research vessel Piri Reis and gravity and magnetic anomalies and tectonic characteristics of TRNC broadcast are being studied.

Many relevant specialists and politician attended to the 1st Petroleum and Natural Gas Congress, which is organized by the Union of The Chambers of Cyprus Turkish Engineers and Architects and the Chamber of Mines, Metallurgy and Geology Engineers and held under the major topics of East Mediterranean Hydrocarbon Geopolitics and TRNC Petroleum Law Principles.
