There is an increase in the number of universities and students

Girne American University (GAU) Vice Rector, Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Oğuz Karakartal has expressed that there is an increase in the number of students and the university in Turkey and the TRNC in parallel with the increase rate of the university in the world.

Karakartal answered questions in the TV program he participated, where he explained that the education world have evolved rapidly and thus only viewing this issue based on sectors would be the wrong decision.

Oğuz Kartal who emphasized that directing a university is a tradition, where only rooted, institutionalized universities can survive and can provide high quality graduates, has highlighted the quality graduates can only be given under these conditions.

Karakartal in his speech that evaluated the Girne American University stated that “In this sense, GAU is pioneering a Turkish Cypriot university which has proven itself and completed 30 years”.

Karakartal who informed that historic buildings are used as university campuses especially in European countries and evaluated the Girne American University that opened in Arapahmet, the historic area of Nicosia in this context, has stated that “The American University of Cyprus, which is the sister organization of GAU, manifests itself as an indicator of an established vision with its tradition-sustainability understanding”.

Prof. Dr. Karakartal evaluated that Universities Union, in which GAU Chancellor of the Board Serhat Akpınar plays a refreshing and locomotive role, is an important development and emphasized that those who govern the TRNC should not interfere the universities with bureaucracy, and make way in a globalized world instead.
