Drawing Game in School Project, conducted under the scope of “Community Service” course by Girne American University (GAU) Faculty of Education Pre-School Teaching, was successfully implemented.

Within the scope of the project, drawing games were performed for children’s to have fun and develop, in the gardens of Lapta and Kyrenia Kindergarten and Oğuz Veli, Karaoğlanoğlu, Hasan Cafer, Alsancak, Çatalköy and Karşıyaka Primary Schools.

Cooperation with the Municipality of Kyrenia

Kyrenia Municipality undertook the project sponsorship of the drawing game events. Drawing game project, which was organised under the project for eight kindergarten and primary schools connected to Kyrenia, has attracted great interest.

GAU Faculty of Education Lecturer Aytaç Dilek, stated about the project that; "Game, is a real necessity for the child. It is very important for the child’s physical, psychological, social and intellectual development. We implement this project knowing that this process is usually self-natured, sincere and based on the free will."

Game, is an important job that has to be taken seriously

Dilek stressed that the adults saw playing games as a pointless occupation which helps the child to have fun and idle around and stated that "However, for children games are important and should be taken seriously. Games teach a child to obey the rules, take responsibility, cooperation and respect to other people. Also it is an important factor that helps them to be entrepreneur, enacting, take the risk of danger and the development of problem solving skills. In addition to these, it acquires qualifications like developing self-confidence, meeting its emotional and social needs and being self-sufficient during the game.

Many projects will be implemented

Aytaç Dilek explained that they will conduct many projects within the scope of “Community Service” course together with Kemal Saraçoğlu Children with Leukemia and Cancer Foundation, Cancer Patients Aid Association, Educational Projects in Schools, Audio Books and Sales Projects.

Dilek explained that they have been carrying out projects for 4 years for all segments of the society, especially for children as the GAU Faculty of Education Pre-School Teaching and stated that they will continue to carry out their work in the coming years and lastly stressed that they had launched the “Sound Communities, Happy Individuals” slogan for four years.
