Elderly and Child Care Support Project from GAU Flying Angels

The Social Responsibility Project, with the slogan that will be an example to other cities, “The strength of a community is set by healthy children and people”, from Girne American University Faculty of Humanities, Nursing and Health Higher Education and Pre-School Teaching Department of the Education Faculties, continues to grow stronger with the elderly and child care support project, Flying Angels.

 

The aim of Flying Angels, which provides integration between university and community, is to take the service to all areas in need of help, care and education for the elderly and children.

 

Home-based child care project, including Preschool Teaching, is the largest part of the project, which have been carried out in collaboration with three different department of Girne American University.


Support to project grows like topsy

 

Asst. Prof. Dr. Azize Ummanel, Head of the Department of GAU Preschool Teaching, stated that the department grew increasingly with its support for the project and collaboration with students.

 

Students of Department of Preschool Teaching can catch the opportunity to practice what they have learned, by taking basic lessons like; child development, game development, child`s mental health and parental education and working with children.

 

With this services provided for families in need, students of Department of Preschool Teaching are developing themselves while families found the chance to work with more competent people on child care.

American College at Kids Carnival

 

On the other hand, Flying Angels are preparing to take their place at the 1st Kids Carnival, which will be organized by Girne American College on April 23. The event prepared for children’s by students of Department of Preschool Teaching, is organized to be open to all children.
