The Ambition of GAC in ‘Free Zone’

Operating and providing education under the management of GAU, Girne American College is preparing to participate with its student music group in the High School Music contest organized by Vodafone.

 

The GAC music band has been participating regularly in the Vodafone High School music contest that has been organized for the past three years. Just like the prior years of contest GAC is continuing its preparations with passion.

 

This year the event will come to pass in two stages, the first leg was held on the 20th March, Friday.

 

The GAC music group contributed to this stage of the competition with Pearl Jam’s ‘A state of love and trust’, song.

 

The GAC music band is formed of a British vocalist, Scarlet Goodwin, at the electro guitar Salih Kayasal and Kaan Akerzurumlu, at the drum Cem Gumusdag, and at the bass guitar Aytul Turer.

 

Ibrahim Ozbaskin, a music lecturer and a flute performer, supported the band with the preparations of the contest and recorded the following speech about the competition:

 

‘At this intense education period the group have been working together for about a month. It’s also a delight to work with young people, we are ambitious about this contest and we want to achieve a good result.’

 

The first performance was held at the Ataturk Sports Centre without audience, Ozbaskin records that they heard good feedback on their performance. Ozbaskin expresses good luck wishes for the students that will participate in contest which will be held on the 27th March, Friday.
