Applications to Healthy City Design Competitions Starts
Press announcement of “Healthy City Design Competition” which is carried out together by Nicosia Municipality and Girne American University (GAU) and organized within Healthy City Platform have been realized in the Great Inn (Büyük Han).
GAU Assoc. Prof. Dr. Senem Zeybekoğlu Sadri, TRNC Orthopedic Handicapped Association Günay Kibrit, TRNC Doctors Association Dr. Filiz Besim, TRNC Association of Preventing Car Accidents Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zeki Avcı, Chamber of Architects Representative Kozan Uzunoğlu, Ayhan Barış and Nicosia Municipality Mayor Mehmet Harmancı attended to the press conference.
It is stated that Healthy City Platform have been organized on the purpose of developing ideas and projects to create more healthy, burdenless and livable city atmosphere for everyone by rebuilding the relation between human, environment and all creatures. It is informed that the competition is one of the most important steps to achieve this goal and underlined that the purpose of this competition is to generate ideas for transferring the city into a cleaner, healthy, accessible, burdenless, safe and sustainable city and to popularize these ideas. Basic design of the competition was referred to enhance the open spaces, to make arrangements for the walking trails and cycle paths, to enhance the public transportation system, to make the traffic safe, to ease the access of basic services, to provide enough lightening, to increase green fields, to remove all obstacles from the roads, building entrances and public spheres, to make arrangements in the city roads and facades which would affect the city climate positively and to prepare a substructure for cleaning the visual, aural, physical and peripheral pollution.
Besides, it was informed that Healthy City Design Competition is accessible for the all participation of public and steps for attending the competition lines up as follows;
Competitors will take a photograph of any area which they find problematical within Nicosia and to remove the identified problems and hygiene the area, they will suggest their course of action in the photograph. Photographs of current and finalized situation of the area which must be set on the A3 size, 150 dpi solubility and JPEG format will be sent to saglikliseher@gmail.com with the identity and contact information of participant. Due date of questions and answers is 30 March 2015 Monday and due date of photographs is 24 April 2015 Friday.
