“International Light Year” Events at GAU!

Celebrating its 30th year during the 2014-2015 Academic Year, Girne American University (GAU) hosted the panel named, “What’s Going To Happen To This Universe.”

 

In 2015 UNESCO and The International Astronomy Association organized, “International Light Year”. Due to the 100th Anniversary of Albert Einstein’s Relativity Theory and also James Clark Maxwell’s Photo magnetic Theory celebrating its 150th Anniversary there has been great interest in the “What’s Going To Happen To This Universe” panel at GAU.

 

During the Turkish part of Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Semiz’s presentation, topics about the universe, planets and the relationships of the world’s systems were discussed.

 

2nd Part

 

During the second part of the panel which took place in the afternoon, Girne American University’s Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Sadık Ülker continued the panel in English.

 

In this panel, Prof. Dr. Ülker gave information about “Microwaves and Microwave Technolgy” and “The relationship of the tools and microwave used in daily life.”


During the “United Nations (UN) General Committee, 68. Session, 71. General Committee Meeting, the 2015 year has been announced to be The International Light Year and Light Based Technology Year.
