Theatre Days held within 2014-2015 academic year activities of thirtieth year of GAU started with a play named Mahser-i Cumbus. The play which was staged in GAU Spectrum Hall attracted great attention.

Mahser-i Cumbus which was the opening play of GAU second Theatre Days received a great deal of attention from students and public as Minister of Education Özdemir Berova, Undersecretary of The Deputy Prime Ministry Hüda Hüdaverdi, Kyrenia District Governor Mehmet Envergil, GAU Board of Administrators Vice Chancellor Cemile Esenyel, GAU Secretary General Assist. Prof. Dr. Sualp Davut, GAU Head of Register Office Zerrin Gürler, GAU Academic and Administrative staff also attended to the night.

Mahser-i Cumbus which comprised of Yiğit Arı, Burak Satıbol, Dilek Çelebi, Ayhan Taş, Özlem Türay and Ayça Işıldar Ak burst the audience into laughs in the play they staged with improvised technique and won a great recognition.

Thanking to GAU Administration

Mahser-i Cumbus member who made a statement after the show specified that they are very pleased by the great interest they received whenever they come to Cyprus and thanked to the GAU Administration for providing this opportunity.

Mahser-i Cumbus players who stated that it was their second time in Cyprus refered that “We are very glad from being in GAU for the second time and from being able to inaugurate (do the opening of) the Theatre Days that we did a closure last year. One of the most important reasons for us to be in here is being students of Levent Suner. We are very honored to visit our teacher in GAU in which he lectures.”

Assertive Organization from GAU

Mahser-i Cumbus artists who denoted that one of the greatest advantage of GAU Theatre Days is having students from Performing Arts Academy Drama and Acting Department continued their words as follows “We took a glance at all preparation processes and other plays, this year you have been created a more assertive Theatre Days.”

Mahser-i Cumbus referred that it is very pleasing to have an augmentation in the Performing Arts Academy Drama and Acting Department students and underlined that with this pleasant attention, Theatre Days can reach international festival dimensions. They stated that they are also very happy to be in GAU.

GAU Head  of Performing Arts Department Levent Suner

Performing Arts Academy Drama and Acting Department Head Assist. Prof. Dr. Levent Suner explained in his speech that; “We are organizing the second Theatre Days, continuing every year by adding more indicates that we will also organize the fifth one of this Theatre Days here. I also live a different pride. Mahser-i Cumbus team are my students, I watch them in television programs on STAR TV, I am very proud of what they are achieving and their success. It is a great pleasure for me to watch them in stage.”

Suner who made the opening speech of GAU Theatre Days which hosted a massive crowd thanked to the great attention about 27 March World Theatre Day in that important day and stated that he was very glad for being able to celebrate the World Theatre Day with TRNC Community.

In the second Theatre Days which is in cooperation of GAU and Teknogold, 8 plays including 2 children’s play, 1 commune and 1 atelier (workshop) work will be staged.
