The presidential election survey conducted by Girne Research Institute (GAE) serving within Girne American University (GAU) was announced to public through a press conference at the Lefkoşa Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Commerce.

Girne American Institute Board of Directors Members and members of the press attended to the conference. GAU’s CEO and Vice Chancellor of the  Board, Chair of GAE Institute Asst. Prof. Dr. Asim Vehbi, GAE Managers Erhan Vechi, Erhan Özkan, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sualp Davud, Gülhan Nalbantoğlu and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zafer Ağdelen attended the conference and delivered the method used in the survey, examples and the results of the survey. GAE Coordinator Hasan Erçakıca also announced the results for the presidential election that is included to the survey.

Chair of GAE Institute Asst. Prof. Dr. Asim Vehbi stated in his speech that the Presidential Survey had great interest previously and that they kept record of all criticisms with respect stating that some people made unscientific explanations because they weren’t satisfied with the result and underlined that these types of explanations are unacceptable. GAE Chair Asim Vehbi stated that the survey is a scientific and academic study and that everyone on the executive board has contributed and that they soundly support the survey. Girne Research Institute’s basic principles are to contribute to world peace and to ensure a settlement within the Cyprus Island and TRNC.

GAE Board member Erhan Vechi stated that the purpose of the survey is to determine the political, economic and social expectations of the Turkish People of Cyprus and stated that it consists of 18 year and elder citizens of TRNC. Vehci said that the surveys method is multi-staged stratified random sampling and face to face.

A public opinion survey was carried out for the Presidential election that will be held on April 19, 2015. The survey was done on March 8, 2015 on the 18 year and older citizens of TRNC. Mutli-stage, stratified proportional systematic sampling in the streets face to face surveying method was used

TRNC 2015 President Election Survey was realized in Lefkoşa, Gazi Mauğusa, Girne, İskele, Güzelyurt districts and rural areas, on March 8, 2015 as 126 interviewers, 28 auditors, 4 coordinator and 1532 participants conducted the survey.

According to the results of the survey “Which candidate will you vote for on April 19, 2015 TRNC presidential election?” 32.9% Derviş Eroğlu, %22.9 Sibel Siber, 15.8% Mustafa Akıncı, 12.8% Undecided, 9.3% will not vote, 5.1% Kudret Özersay, 0.8% Mustafa Onurer, 0.4% Arif Salih Kırdağ are the results of the participants of the survey. “Do you think the election will prolong to the second round?” question was answered as 46.1% yes, 28% no, 25.5% don’t have an opinion. "Candidates in these election match-ups that may occur in the second round if they cannot obtain an absolute majority of votes in the first round which candidates will you vote for?” 44.2% said Derviş  Eroğlu, 30.9% Sibel Siber and ​​26.3% they will not vote. "By your estimates of the 2015 TRNC presidential election who will win?" 41.7% Derviş Eroglu, 21.7% Sibel Siber, 17.8% Mustafa Akinci, 15.5% said I have no idea, 2.3% Kudret Özersay, 0.5% Arif Salih Kırdağ and 0.5% Mustafa Onur results were reached according to the participants.
