In the 2014-2015 academic year which the GAU celebrates its 30th year, continues to make a difference with the aviation department which shows a rapid change and development in the world where the globalization, technology and communication are developing.

Flight Training Organization, Quality and Security Manager Saygın Gönç made statements in regards to the following about the GAU Aviation Academy, departments and occupations;

“The purpose of pilotage training is to raise the pilots who are needed in the Civil Aviation field. GAU Aviation partner AFA has been authorized by the related authorities by taking the licenses of Ministry of Education Special Course Approval, Civil Aviation General Directorate Air Taxi Operation license, Approved Flight Training Organization (FTO) and has been giving pilotage training since 2011 in the standards of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Jointed Aviation Authorities (JAA), Turkish Republic Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation General Directorate. In the pilotage department, education and training has two stages. In the first stage, basic sciences, basic aviation information, law knowledge about flight and education lessons is given. In the second stage, Girne American University (GAU) and Atlantic Flight Academy supports the aviation and flight programs of GAU for the purpose of giving pilot education.”

“Pilotage department has started its pilotage education with 5 single and twin engine new generation (NG) aircrafts and 2 top of the range simulators. Also, it is planned to start education simultaneous with GAU Istanbul Campus and GAU Cyprus Campus with 4 new generation single engine glass cockpit aircrafts, a new generation twin engine glass cockpit aircrafts and 2 single and multiengine aircrafts.”

“In the Civil Air Transportation Managership Program, it has a wide curriculum consisted of management field lessons, aviation field lessons and basic fields. The purpose of the Civil Air Transportation Managership Program is to raise manager candidates who can work successfully in the national and international organizations which is in the Aviation Sector that develops rapidly, and who is equipped with the advanced foreign language, managership and basic aviation information. In our academy medium of instruction is English. At the moment, about 150 students study in the Civil Air Transportation Managership Department.”

“Besides that, Civil Aviation Cabin Services in our academy, is responsible for performing essential security precautions in the air vehicles which do the passenger transportation, and responsible for the passenger comfort. Those people are defined as a ‘cabin attendant’.”

“As GAU Aviation Academy, we attach importance to activities and organizations which can contribute to the development of our students. In the ‘Aviation Federation Model Aircraft’ competition which will be held in Geçitkale Airport on 21-22 March, 13 students of us will umpire. For the competition, people from 12 different countries are expected to come. In the forthcoming days, we will make an education tour to the Ercan Airport.”
