In the 2014-2015 Academic Year, Girne American University (GAU) celebrates its 30th year with its second Theater Week, under the main sponsor of TEKNOGOLD, GAU hosts with well-known plays and cast.

GAU’s Drama and Acting Department and TEKNOGOLD work together on 27th of March, World Theater Day. This commune will include, Mahşer-i Cümbüş, Yamuk Yumuk, Bira Fabrikası (Beer Factory), Sondan Sonra (After the End), Parkta Güzel Bir Gün(A Nice Day In The Park), Feminist Tiyatro (Feminist Theater), Çok Soğuk(Very Cold), Köpek Kadın Erkek(Man, Woman Dog). The plays that will be performed on stage from the Artist’s Workroom: Doğaçlama Oyunculuk (Improvising), Kafkas Tebeşir Dairesi.

A statement was made on a TV program by, GAU’s Publisher Simge Özekler and GAU’s Event Organizer and Head of Public Relations Department, Feride Vardarlı;

Özekler Stated: Last year we signed a first, with award winning artists performing for a whole week and this year names and plays each better than the next will be performing. The festival organized by GAU’s Performing Arts, Drama and Acting Faculty will provide the Turkish Cypriot community with  a week of theatre entertainment. Pointing out the importance of theatre for the Turkish Cypriot community, Özekler also stated that, not being able to find tickets and not watch the plays should not be an obstacle for the community. Therefore suiting its celebration of its 30th year, GAU has organized a Theatre Week at the International Congress Centre, Spectrum. A great opportunity for the community has been served, as performances will be realized every day between 23rd-30th of March at 20:00pm.

Following Özekler’s statement, Vardarlı stated that, the students of the Performing Arts, Drama and Acting Department develop experience of meeting and practicing acting with the artists. Vardarlı also thanked other sponsors that stood by GAU at the festival.
