GAU Member of The Faculty Explained Further About Women's Right

GAU Member of the Board Prof. Dr. Ghadir Golkarian made a statement about women’s rights concerning the International Women’s Day in the TV program which mentioned explanations in regards to the social rights of women of TRNC and Iran.

In the statement, Golkarian pointed out that comparing women’s rights between these two countries has so many similarities in terms of regional and also mentioned global women’s rights. He said that “Our women are the main factors in our lives. In fact, they are the basic sexuality of creation and human existence. However, unfortunately they are deprived of their necessary rights in terms of regional and universal and sometimes they have been aggrieved. In our region, along with the tradition, customs and cultural factors, also religious transfers have affected women’s rights negatively in many ways and fairly put them into secondary importance. On the other hand, although women’s rights seem to be positive superficially in social situations, basically they are used as a sexual object.”

Golkarian explained that Iran women have much superiority in the social domain and also stated that women’s rights in Iran are not taken any notice like the other countries subjected to sharia. However, he added that their real life with their family or social environments and their living conditions in the external environment are different and said that “Women in Iran are not active in the outside social activities but they are free in their private lives and family and relative gatherings like the western world. Although Iran Government added the sharia statutes which was taken from The Quran to the constitution and penalty and civil law, it acknowledges that everyone is free about what they are doing in their homes and it cannot meddle to how the women live, what they do or what they prefer and this is also legally prohibited.”
