Girne American University management is one of the most affected educational institutions by the inadequacy of the country’s student transportation and its current demand is not for the interests of the university, it intends to find solutions to the transportation problems experienced by students instead.

Girne American University, which acts education-oriented for 30 years, has come to these days with its service attitude that works in accordance with the interests of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which is not involved into politics and does not enter to an understanding of not seeing itself above the state. If there are other institutions that see themselves beyond the state, it is not a concern of Girne American University.

Girne American University has been acting with the understanding of producing a solution that is fundamental by taking into consideration the opinions of the universities about the current issue under the state’s control, not with the enthusiasm of "throwing a hand to the transportation sector" as pointed out in the press. We continue the expansion process of our fleet of vehicles according to the current legal procedures today in parallel with the increase in our number of students.

Our university administration has been acting with the understanding of maintaining and developing the image of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which has become an island of universities, but not with the intension of bringing any harm to state institutions while bringing up the relevant subject.

We, as the University Administration, have discussed the issue with the relevant ministers and officials repeatedly but could not get a result. While each political party forwards the message of carrying the student number of TRNC to 100 thousand, they are unable to find a solution on how to solve the transportation problem. We acknowledge that we support our government with our free services provided to our students on transportation.

On this occasion, we call on the authorities to find a solution to the transportation problem of university students at the meetings and to help annihilate the victimization experienced by students.

Girne American University administration is always ready to contribute to the solution of the university students transport problem. Problems are simply not ours, but also common problems of many other universities. Also, we want to share with the public the fact that no one can restrict us from searching our rights by democratic means. Our management has felt the need to make this explanation in order to resolve the problem and to inform the public, not to enter into any polemics with honorable Minister.
