The Lecturer of Girne American University (GAU) Faculty of Education Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nur Yeliz Gülcan, clarified the points to take into consideration about the use of credit card.

Gülcan stated on TV Program that the unlawful attacks such as cloning of the personal credit card and stealing passwords are not a new issue and said that there were a lot of points need to be careful when using credit cards.

What Credit Card Users Should Pay Attention To?

Gülcan emphasized that today, credit cards is almost used by everyone due to the presence installment advantages and. Gülcan also said ‘’ But if do not pay attention, the use of credit card also brings disadvantages. Today, unfortunately, credit card users can be victimized by malicious people. There are some issues that need to pay attention to the card user to avoid this victimization. The most common places where the credit card fraud is performed are websites and ATMs. Therefore, users should be careful when making credit card transactions’’

She said that the reliability approved sites should be a priority when shopping on internet network and the process should not be done in internet cafes or similar environments.

Gülcan emphasized that we should not share our password information to another people and if there is a suspicious condition, you should contact with the bank and you should cancel credit card.

Measures can be taken in workplaces

Gülcan emphasized that credit card cloning in workplaces which shopping with credit cards is one of the most common fraud methods and she said there are some precautions that should be taken in this regard. Card information should not be stored for any reason. The staff using the POS device should be trained. They should not allow unencrypted process. They must take approval signature or identity from suspected customers. They might suspect from the very high amount of spending and can provide the necessary control.
