Girne American University Badminton team who undefeatedly became the champions in the TRNC Universities' competition coordinated by the TRNC Sports Federation was also undefeated in Turkey and brought home the Turkey Championship cup.

Turkey's champions, GAU Badminton team, returned home yesterday following the Badminton Tournament held in Ankara where 30 teams competed. GAU Badminton team won the right to compete in the Turkish Badminton Premier League.

Following the challenging competition which was between University of Bilkent, Osmangazi University, Suleyman Demirel University, University of Sinop, University of Mersin, and University of Kırıkkale, the GAU Badminton team won the Championship with net scores.

In the competition where GAU Team member Savaş Dursun won the first place in Turkish Men's, GAU Team member Nesil Yusufoğlu won the fourth place in Turkish Women's, and GAU as a team, won the first place, University of Mersin won the second place, and University of Bilkent won the third place.

In his speech where the championship cup was presented, GAU Health Sports and Culture Department Head Türkay Akpınar stated that GAU earned significant success in all branches in national and international competitions . Akpınar added that GAU is one of the most challenging teams to compete in Turkish Premier League.
