GAU Committee Has Came Together With Karpaz Community
Girne American University (GAU) celebrated its 30th year in the 2014-2015 academic year continues the new projects without slowing down.
GAU Founding Rector and Chancellor of the Board of Administrators Serhat Akpinar has attended to the contact meeting held at GAU Karpaz Life Campus Project Office with the committee led by him, Undersecretary of the Deputy Prime Minister Hüdaverdi Huda, TRNC Department of Forestry Director İsa Direk, Development Bank Board Member Türkman Sencer and İskele Deputy Hüseyin Alanlı. There has been informing about GAU- Forestry Department Honey Forests Project, development process of GAU Karpaz Life Campus and GAU Beekeeping and Research Development and Application Center .
At the meeting, about the Honey Forest Project, GAU-Forestry Department stated that they will develop and protect Karpaz`s natural beauty considering the paradise Karpaz with its ecosystem and people as a whole, and also they will announcing the name of Karpaz to the world regarding beekeeping.
It was emphasized that 70,000 saplings and planting within the GAU Karpaz Honey Forest has started rapidly. In addition, it was stated that the process of construction and investment of Karpaz Life Campus has already contributed to the development by providing employment opportunities, and the department of architecture students will start taking urban design lessons in Karpaz Life Campus by September and also they will continue the construction works without slowing down.
GAU Beekeeping Research Center Director Hüseyin Balkaya has also given information about the new products such as royal jelly, pollen, super mix, royal mix products. In the contact meeting, it was stated that important studies are being conducted about queen bee keeping and these studies are continued at full tilt.
After the meeting, the team led by GAU Founding Rector and Chancellor of the Board of Administrators Serhat Akpinar have conducted some studies about Karpaz Life Campus construction field and made an observation on the areas where will be planted as part of the Honey Forest Project.
