GAU Discussed “Diplomacy and Political Communications in Cyprus”

Girne American University has organized the fifth of “Mediterranean Talks” that emphasizes the analysis of communication codes of the Mediterranean in general and Cyprus in specific.

 

GAU CYPRUS RESEARCH CENTER (GAU-CRC)  in cooperation with the Faculty of Communication have organized an event on the  analysis of communication codes of the Mediterranean in general and Cyprus in specific for the fifth week of the series of talks under the title of “DIPLOMACY AND POLITICAL CUMMUNICATION IN CYPRUS”  in GAU Cyprus-Girne Campus Millennium Senate Congress Center.

 

The first event speech was held by the Dean of the Faculty of Communication- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Asude Tunca, and the brief of the speech was as follows;

 

The main theme of the event which was collaboratively organized by GAU Research Institute was said to be very significant in means of the history of Cyprus. The speech had intended to explain the happenings encountered by the first woman diplomat of Cyprus and as well the academician in GAU- Hasibe Şahoğlu.

 

Following the speech, the video recordings of residents of Girne in regards to Diplomacy and Political Communication in Cyprus which was prepared by the students of GAU Faculty of Communication was screened.

 

Hasibe Şahoğlu in her speech, have talked about her educational life and emphasized on the fact that she was acting as a honorary representative of Cyprus as she had completed her high-school studies in America. Şahoğlu stressing on the point which the Cypriots are not really keen to speak to a microphone and also emphasized that she as well feels nervous before the microphone and that she is better expressing herself in writing.

 

Şahoğlu also underlined the previous diplomacy in Cyprus and the deficiencies in political communication.
