The Founder of In-Site Architecture Office and Consultant of Girne Municipality and Head Architect – Ali Yapıcıoğlu presented the “Sustainable Architecture across Europe” seminar which was the 9th Friday Seminar in the series of GAU Faculty of Architecture, Design and Fine Arts of 2013/2014 academic year under the title of Research in Practice.

At the seminar, analysis and evaluation of the projects at the exhibition were held while addressing the issue of “Sustainable Architecture across Europe” which was prepared in the 20th year of establishment of The Architects' Council of Europe (ACE).

This exhibition which covers 32 projects from 25 European countries and represents the best architectural practices in terms of sustainability from various parts of Europe, were prepared to display both in Turkish and English by Chamber of Architecture of Turkey and was exhibited in Girne American University in Cyprus for the first time, between February 17th – 28th, with the collaboration of GAU Environment and Nature Research and Application Centre, GAU Faculty of Architecture, Design and Fine Arts and TMMOB Chamber of Architects of Turkey.

Ali Yapıcıoğlu who spoke about the architectural sustainability of the basic principles, evaluated the projects in the exhibition and held the assessment of these principles and criteria, later emphasizing that the exhibition is a very significant opportunity for GAU architecture students and those who study architecture and engage in this field in Cyprus. He also thanked the people and institutions which have supported the idea of bringing the exhibition to Cyprus.

Before the seminar, Vice-Dean of GAU Architecture, Design and Fine Arts Faculty – Assist. Prof. Dr. Hossein Sadri, gave examples of Ali Yapıcıoğlu’s sustainable architecture studies which were located in America and around the world and stated that Ali Yapıcıoğlu's return to Cyprus and hosting him in Kyrenia is a great advantage and then thanked him for providing support in several studies of GAU Department of Architecture. Assist. Prof. Dr. Hossein Sadri presented Ali Yapıcıoğlu with a plaque of appreciation following the seminar.
