Grading Policy of Design Studios
According to GAU Faculty of Architecture, Design & Fine Arts Studio Culture Policy the grades of all studio courses are calculated according to the below policy:
a. Juries (3*20%=60%)
b. Sketch Exams (2*5%=10%)
c. Assignments (20%)
d. Participation (10%)
5. Evaluation
5.1. General Rules
1. Each studio course will include 3 juries, 2 sketch exams (one in the mid-term exams’ week and the other in the final exams’ week) and minimum 5 assignments, such as presentation, research report, pre-jury assignment, homework, classwork, etc.
2. The grades of each assignment will be given in a numerical format over 100 and will be added to the Student’s Semester Evaluation Sheet (Appendix 1).
3. The total semester grade of students will be calculated as below:
a. Juries (3*20%=60%)
b. Sketch Exams (2*5%=10%)
c. Assignments (5*4%=20%)
d. Participation (10%)
4. The grading system for studios is based on semester activities, therefore there is not any re-sit or graduation make-up exams for studio courses. However, attending the final sketch exam is compulsory for the studio students. F grade will be given to the students who do not attend the final sketch exam. Absent students in the final sketch exam, can apply for the make-up sketch exam if they have any acceptable reason for their absence.
