WHAT'S
BUILD PEACE 2015 PEACE AND TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE
BUILD PEACE 2015 PEACE AND TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE
BRINGS INTERNATIONAL ARTS INTERVENTION TO NICOSIA
APRIL 25 & 26, 2015
The second annual Build Peace conference (http://howtobuildpeace.org) will take place in Cyprus from April 25-26, 2015. The event will take place in both communities in the walled city of Nicosia, bringing together 250 peace and technology practitioners, academics and activists from over 30 countries. The event is co-sponsored by United Nations Development Programme Action for Cooperation and Trust (UNDP-ACT).
Build Peace explores how information and communications technologies, including games, networking platforms and beyond, can enhance the impact of peacebuilding initiatives on the ground. The first Build Peace conference was held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab in Boston, USA last year.
Build Peace presents “Together Separate” arts program
“Together Separate: Contesting Space” is an artistic showcase of individual and collective works that engage with the global issue of contested boundaries, borders, and spaces — a theme directly reflected in the conference’s host city. Asking “What does it mean to create, claim, hold, and/or use a space?” Build Peace responds with specially sourced and curated works that address human experiences of shared and contested space.
Free and open to the public
Build Peace welcomes public participation in the “Together Separate” arts program, with installations and events scheduled from Wednesday, April 22 - Sunday, April 26, 2015. Please visit http://howtobuildpeace.org/build-peace-art for the full program, including details about the artworks, artists, and curation process.
