Girne American University Global Science Family came together for the Feast of Sacrifice/ Eid-al Adha (Kurban Bayram) with a reception which was held in the foyer area of GAU Kyrenia, Northern Cyprus Campus, International Congress Centre, Spectrum Hall.

The feast reception where the GAU Board of Trustees President - Memduh Erdal, GAU CEO and Vice Chancellor of the Board of Administrators – Assist. Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi, Vice Chancellor of the Board - Olgun Üstün, GAU Rector – Prof. Dr. Yıldırım Öner, GAU Vice-Rectors, Head of the GAU Health, Sports and Culture Department - Türkay Akpınar together with the academic and administrative GAU Global Science family came together, was also the feast of colourful scenes.

GAU CEO and Vice Chancellor of the Board of Administrators – Assist. Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi who made a speech at the reception, stated that it was the day before the feast eve and also the first days of the 2014-2015 academic year for them and wished that the new academic year will bring success, health, happiness and beautiful unity to everyone. Vehbi also touched upon the importance of holidays and emphasized that if there is any resentment between family, friends and work colleagues, there is an opportunity to start over, sometimes as told in songs. Vehbi celebrated the feast of the sacrifice holiday of the Muslim world and GAU Global Science Family and wished them a pleasant and happy feast with their families.

Vehbi further stated in his speech that the number of academicians has increased from 26 countries with the new academic year, almost approaching 40 this year, and stressed that 3,000 new students had arrived with the new academic year, and that the number of students this year has approached 13,000. Vehbi stated that they have become a bigger family in the 2014-2015 academic year, and celebrated everyone’s Feast of Sacrifice (Kurban Bayram).
